Career Connection Series at LRCC

Snyder Career SeriesPhoto: LRCC Adjunct Business Professor, Mary Snyder, has created a Career Connection Series of three seminars at the College on Prescott Hill to enhance employability. The Cover Letter and Resume seminar will be on June 8 and June 10. Interview Questions and Techniques will be on June 15. Job Listing Resources, Business Networking, Career and Job Advice and Employment Trends will be on June 17. Each of the day’s instruction will begin at 9:30 a.m. and run through 11:30 a.m.

The job market is shrinking. You’re out of work or in danger of being out of work. Perhaps you’re just out of school and plan to enter the workforce. How are you going to get the position you want? What will give you the advantage over others applying for "your" position?

The answer lies in your preparation. Did you write a cover letter strong enough to get the potential employer to read your resume? Is your resume "functional" and relating to the position you are seeking? Will it get you an interview and how prepared are you for the interview process?

Mary Snyder (Northfield), B.S., M.Ed., Adjunct Business Professor at Lakes Region Community College, will address these questions as well as how to find the position that is right for you, how to maintain your position, and look at future employment trends.

"Employers today have a large pool of potential employees to choose from," says Professor Snyder. "What makes an individual stand out? Employers are looking at the whole person. They are looking for good communicators, team players and individuals with positive attitudes and a desire to grow."

Professor Snyder has designed a series of three training seminars to address the knowledge and skills that are so important for today’s job seeker. Topics will include; the cover letter and resume, the interview, finding and maintaining the right career path. The Cover Letter and Resume seminar will begin on Monday, June 8, 9:30-11:30 a.m., and will conclude Wednesday, June 10, 9:30-11:30 a.m. ($50). The Interview Questions and Techniques will be on Monday, June 15, 9:30-11:30 a.m. ($25). Job Listing Resources, Business Networking, Career and Job Advice, and Employment Trends will be on Wednesday, June 17, 9:30-11:30 a.m. ($25). Interested individuals may participate in any one or all three of the seminars. Seating will be limited to 20 participants. Call the College at 524-3207 ext. 773 for more information.
