Student of the YearPhoto: Lakes Region Community College (LRCC) Student of the Year Award winner, Christine Wessollek (Gilford), displays her Award along with the diploma following LRCC’s 40th Graduation Commencement Ceremony at Meadowbrook Musical Arts Center on Saturday. The Student of the Year Award, voted upon by faculty, staff, and administration, is based upon service to the College and to the Lakes Region community.

Wessollek served as LRCC Student Senate President as well as President of the LRCC Bennett Library Club. She also was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, the recognized honor society for two-year colleges worldwide. In her two years at the College, Wessollek orchestrated two campus food and clothing drives for St. Vincent Depaul as well as organized donations for Operation Santa Claus. In 2008 Wessollek received the NH Campus Compact Presidents’ Leadership Award as a result of outstanding contributions to community service efforts on campus. Wessollek won the President’s Award of Excellence as the outstanding student in the Teacher Preparation Program for the 2007-2008 academic year.

"Christine has made an immeasurable difference on the LRCC campus," says LRCC Director of Learning Resources, Cyndy Davis (Gilford- not pictured), who supervised Wessollek as a work-study student in the Library." Her sense of humor and leadership skills were a dynamic combination to inspire students to participate in campus life. Christine’s presence and personality will be sorely missed."

Wessollek plans to continue for the Bachelor’s Degree in Education.
