Robichaud earned his original LRCC Associate Degree as a graduate in 1969. The second was given to him at this year’s ceremony based upon service to the College, System, and community.

"Forty years later, I can look back and attribute any success I may have had to a foundation that was built at Lakes Region Community College," says Belknap County Citizens Council on Children and Families Executive Director, Alan Robichaud (Belmont), the recipient of LRCC’s 2009 Honorary Associate of Arts Degree at Commencement last month. "While the name has changed, some things have remained the same; the excellence in education, the passion of professors and administrators, and the undying support of families and loved ones to see graduates through their educations."

The above statements were made at the podium by Robichaud to the 205 LRCC graduates, families, and friends at the 40th Commencement Ceremony held at Meadowbrook Musical Arts Center on May 16. Robichaud received a second LRCC Associate Degree having earned his first 40 years ago in LRCC’s first graduating class. As one can see, Robichaud’s experiences at LRCC impacted his life and gave him reason to work with the Laconia College in a positive way.

Robichaud serves on the LRCC Advisory Board which makes recommendations to administration for college improvements. He has also spent a number of years on the Community College System of NH Board of Trustees which oversees the State’s seven two-year colleges. Robichaud has also provided valuable input for LRCC’s Human Services curriculum, his specialty having earned Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Human Services from Springfield College.

"When I came to LRCC, a world of opportunities opened up for me," continues Robichaud. "I became a member of the Student Senate, played basketball, and greatly appreciated the personal attention given by LRCC professors. They showed me that people really do care, and that maybe I needed to care too."

Robichaud cares deeply for the Lakes Region college community, people throughout the State, and country. That is why Robichaud continues to work so hard to benefit his community.
