Lakes Region Community College Expanding Commercial Driver Training Program

"With President Barack Obama’s focus on jobs and the repairing of the country’s infrastructure, the need for well-trained Class "A" and Class "B" drivers will be even greater," says Rae Paddleford (Campton), Program Assistant for the Workforce Development Department at Lakes Region Community College (LRCC). "To meet the growing need, LRCC is expanding the Truck Driver Training Program significantly."

A Class "A" license allows an individual to drive a tractor-trailer vehicle. "LRCC’s Workforce Development Department will double training offerings and start a new class every eight weeks," Paddleford continues. "We expect classes to continue to fill quickly."

A Class "B" licensure, which individuals need to operate large construction vehicles, will be added to the Truck Driver Training Program at LRCC. "The Class "B" license will come with a tanker endorsement and the tanker endorsement will make our graduates far more attractive to potential employers." Also added to the Driver Program will be upgrade training for individuals with a current "B" license to earn their Class "A" license.

"The Community College System of New Hampshire is committed to responding quickly to the current employment situation and College personnel see a great need for well-trained drivers," says Paddleford. "These are well-paid positions with a strong future in the transportation and construction industries." LRCC begins the next Commercial Driver’s License Class "A" training on March 16.
