On Monday, September 14 and September 21, Lakes Region Community College (LRCC) will offer Google "Sketch Up" training from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. for the first time. "Google ‘Sketch Up’ is a free, downloadable 3D modeling software that is extremely user friendly," says LRCC Center for Workforce Development Coordinator, Joe Hallgren (Belmont). "The new software allows a person to create and share 3D models of anything from a piece of furniture or machine part, to a house, housing development, or an entire city."
Doing the new Google "Sketch Up" training is Josh Rawlings (Laconia), co-owner of Steeplechase Custom Homes, LLC, Tamworth. "As a multi-faceted builder, I have used ‘Sketch Up’ extensively to design entire houses/projects, timber frames, or to conceptualize specific aspects of a building project," says Rawlings. "To be able to show a potential customer a 3D design has proven critical to sales and sharing with clients/vendors via e-mail adds a level of professionalism and clarity to every proposal."
The aim of the new introductory training is to provide participants with a basic knowledge of "Sketch Up" and step-by-step instruction for the program’s basic modeling tools. "I would love to follow up the new ‘Sketch Up’ training with an intermediate course where participants would design and build an entire structure of their own," adds Rawlings.
For additional information, contact Hallgren at 524-3207 ext. 759, or stop by the Main Campus on Prescott Hill. The cost is $60.00 and will be limited to 12 participants.
