Record Student Orientations at LRCC
More new students attended orientations at Lakes Region Community College (LRCC) this summer than ever before. A total of 325 students attended orientations, surpassing the previous high of 281 set in 2004. New student orientation is an opportunity for students to meet other students, their faculty, and advisors. It is also an opportunity for the College to provide tours of the Library and communicate support services that are available. Students are able to register for their classes as well.
"Orientation is an excellent opportunity for new students to become more acquainted with LRCC," says Dr. Jim Vander Hooven (Laconia), Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.
"he College’s faculty and staff are excited to meet students and to help them achieve personal educational goals."
For the first time in the College’s forty-year history, LRCC students attended orientation according to their desired major in an effort to gain more familiarity with future classmates and their faculty. According to LRCC Bursar, Wendy Parent (Belmont), "it was great to see the students getting to know one another. LRCC’s staff and faculty were able to personalize services, give more specific advice, and deliver pertinent information to a more focused group of incoming students."
LRCC’s fall semester 2009 begins on Monday, August 31. For more information, contact Admissions Director, Wayne Fraser (Alton), at 524-3207. One may also stop by the Main Campus on Prescott Hill, Laconia.
